Meet Julie Elton
Julie Elton is a Sydney-based makeup artist with significant experience in editorial, bridal, runway and television makeup. Her passion lies in bridal and beauty work, and she’s been creating breathtaking makeup looks for more than 25 years.
My makeup career started when I was 16. During my journey I studied beauty therapy and worked internationally as a trainer and educator. I also operated a successful wedding coordination service prior to starting a family. Having experience in all these areas allows me to offer brides-to-be not only makeup services, but advice on skincare, health and wellbeing, as well as an understanding ear and shoulder to lean on during the stressful period that is planning a wedding.
My work is very personalised, and it’s not just about creating a 'pretty face.'
To me, the 'canvas' is the most important part of makeup. Before I start painting, I like to look at each individual's skin type, colouring and natural beauty and take a holistic approach to enhancing what is naturally already there.
I have had extensive experience in all cultures and skin types and have worked in all areas of the makeup industry, from fashion and television, to media and print, but my real passion is beauty and bridal work.
About You
The first thing I like to do is a two hour makeup trial at my studio in Zetland, five minutes from the city.
In that time I like to discuss all aspects of your wedding, from the fabric and neckline of your dress, to the colours in your bouquet to the running order of your day! I have been privileged to work with the very best bridal hair designers in Sydney and I would be happy to refer you to them. You then have the option of doing the trial for both hair and make-up at the same time at my studio, or coming to me after you visit the hairdressing salon. Of course, if you have a preferred hairdresser I’m happy to work with them on the day.
I will run through and advise you on all your beauty needs and skincare routine including eyebrow shaping, waxing, tanning, facial hair removal , manicures and pedicures and all the other little things you may not even have thought about, this is to ensure you look your absolute best on your special day.
I use only the best products available during both the trial and wedding, which I consider to be MAC Cosmetics and Skincare products from the Clarins range.
I apply the foundation with a brush so it looks like a second skin, and ensures your makeup lasts so you look stunning from the beginning of your day to the end.
I use strip and individual false lashes and weave them into your natural lash line to open up the corners of your eyes and give you a glamorous finish for your photos.
To Prepare For Your Trial
Exfoliate your skin the night before and apply a moisturising mask to hydrate your skin.
Wear a white or ivory top to reflect a similar tone to what you will be wearing on your special day.
Ideally also bring examples of makeup looks and hair designs you like (and don’t like) as we can use them to discuss and decide the look and finish you wish to achieve. If you have already decided on your own hairstylist and how you will be wearing your hair on the day, it would be helpful if you could bring a photo or pictures to the trial.
Note: A minimum of four (4) adult faces is required per booking.
